Bally is located at the end part of Howrah district. There is a man-made canal named the 'Bally Khal' that marks the boundary between Bally and the adjoining town of Uttarpara in Hooghly District. Once Uttarpara was the northern part of Bally; Uttarpara means "Northern Ward." The Hooghly river separates it from Dakshineswar of Kolkata district.

The laid back life can still be experienced in this part of Howrah. Bally Deshbandhu club has a beautiful ground where people of all ages come and enjoy sports. It has produced some of the best players in district for Kabaddi team and Kho Kho team. The bengali "Para" culture is still very much present in this part. At the end of the day young boys do assemble in tea shops here and there and have a blast about any thing under the sun. Sometime we miss the good old charm of such "Adda".

Though a little late to start, Bally is soon becoming a very important center for Business. With the same enthusiasm about their Events , people of Bally with a strong sense of culture are soon getting the urge to make a name in the Economy too.
